Teach English in Bangladesh

Bangladesh is not the most obvious destination for TEFL teachers in comparison to its neighbours in South East Asia because the majority of its teachers speak fluent English, but there are still opportunities in this interesting country.

Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world. At first glance, it is poor and dirty, but you will find some hidden surprises if you stay long enough. The capital city of Dhaka showcases events of the historical significance of the country with its forts, palaces and monuments, while Chittagong is the place to go to experience the ethnic diversity of the country, not to mention its beautiful coastline. You can hang out at the longest beach in the world (125 km), catch up with the emerging surf scene in Sonadia Island, wander around the world’s largest mangrove forest, visit tea estates or go on a boat tour in the hopes of seeing one of the world’s few remaining Royal Bengal tigers.

In Bangladesh, there are international schools which offer paid or volunteer positions and a few language schools like the British Council where you could try to find a teaching job. Most teaching opportunities are in the big cities of Dhaka and Chittagong.
