Once you have a few years of experience teaching English as a foreign language, it’s possible to study further to become a Director of Studies, or DoS.
A Director of Studies is more of an administrative role than a teacher role. It is essentially the same as the principal of a school, but of a language centre.
To be a DoS, you need to have an additional skills, such as administrative skills, people management, human resource management, and a background in education.
If you enjoy being involved in TEFL but you don’t want to teach anymore, you should consider training to be a DoS.
