If you have just qualified as a teacher of English as a foreign language in Europe, why don’t you give teaching English in Portugal a try? It’s on the Iberian peninsula on the Atlantic Ocean and it borders Spain. There are good opportunities teaching English in Portugal, especially in the larger cities where there are plenty of students and business people.
Wages aren’t as high as in some other European countries, but you should be able to live comfortably on your wages. The average salary is between 1,000 and 1,500 euros a month.

Lisbon
Lisbon is the capital of Portugal and it’s probably one of the hilliest. You’ll definitely be making the most of the trams and buses to get around, as well as the metro. This city is a great place for teaching English in Portugal.
Porto
The centre of Porto is a world heritage site and although its smaller than Lisbon there’s still a lot going on. Like Lisbon, Porto is a university town which means there are a good number of opportunities for teachers of English as a foreign language. Rents are slightly cheaper than Lisbon and although it’s a city eating out is relatively cheap.
Braga
Braga is in the far north of Portugal. It’s the oldest city in Portugal and dates back to the Roman times. Accommodation can be found close to the university and getting around Braga is easy using the excellent bus service. There are a number of English language centres in the centre of Braga which are sure to provide job opportunities for teachers of English as a foreign language.

I am an EU citizen, I hold an MA in TESOL, and I have 10 years teaching experience. I am moving to Portugal in June and would like to know what kind of work I might be able to find there. I have been teaching at the university level in the US for the last 5 years and have also trained teachers.
Hi to whom ever this concerns,
I have currently completed my TEFL course up to 150 hours from another website teflgraduate.com. Unfortunately, I do not currently hold a degree which I feel is stopping me to continue my journey but what I do have is experience in assisting a classroom. Also, I have difficulties choosing which first country am I able to work in because of the requirements they ask for.
However, I am interested working in Lisbon, Portugal or China as I am familiar with the traditions and the beautiful scenery. I am willing to make a start in teaching in either those two countries to give something back.
